Scratch is a free programming tool for children aged 8-16 to create animations, games, music, and interactive stories. It’s also an online community where children can share their projects and collaborate with one another. Over the past decade, more than 18 million people have joined the Scratch online community, from every country in the world except on the continent of Antarctica. Scratchers have shared more than 22 million projects, with 30,000 new ones every day.

Why take this course?

It is for beginner, and no pre requirement besides the curiosity. Over twelve weeks, you’ll develop your knowledge of simple programming logic.

You’ll apply your knowledge to overcome the series of challenges, including checking the condition, imagining the object, and create the small game, etc.

As a coach, you’ll have the chance to develop the necessary skill set for using the Scratch in your classroom or living room, and to connect with a network of other coaches.

  • Develop understanding of how the programming works.

  • Apply knowledge of programming concepts to build the object out of imagination.

  • Create the small game using Scratch

  • Identify ways of engaging learners in creative thinking in your learning context.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for anyone interested in basic UI based programming.

It will be of particular use to non-subject-specialist teachers, computing teachers, and design and technology teachers who are interested in using the Raspberry Pi and Python in their classroom.

What software or tools do you need?

  • a notebook with touchpad or mouse
  • a microSD card (8GB minimum) or USB (8 GB minimum)

Certificate of Achievement

You’ll receive a Certificate of Achievement when you complete the course.
