3D printing is a powerful tool to practice Math and Design, encourage creativity and innovation, and promote critical thinking and problem solving! By designing, making and working with the tangible projects, the development of understanding is enhanced far beyond what is possible in the traditional classroom.

Onshape is a full cloud based professional 3D design software tool with advanced features for parametric 3D modeling and associative 2D drawings. You can create your 3D models and share them from anywhere.

Innovaker Onshape course 1 teaches the basic concepts and functions in Onshape software tool.

Instroduce the general Onshape 3D design environment and User Interface. Includes concepts of document, part studio, assembly etc. The course covers basic sketch and advanced sketch functions, generate 3D models from sketch and various 3D modeling tools and skills. Projects are also provided in through the course.

Why take this course?

It is for intermediate level students, and basic 3D modelling concept understanding is required. Over twelve weeks, you’ll develop your knowledge of simple 3D modeling and printing.

You’ll apply your knowledge to overcome the series of challenges, including checking the existing model, imagining the object, and create the small object, export to 3D print ready file, etc.

As a coach, you’ll have the chance to develop the necessary skill set for using the 3D modeling tool and 3D printer in your classroom or living room, and to connect with a network of other coaches.

  • How to export files and have them printed by a 3D printer?

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for anyone interested in 3D modelling and printing.

It will be of particular use to non-subject-specialist teachers, computing teachers, and design and technology teachers who are interested in using the Raspberry Pi and Python in their classroom.

What software or tools do you need?

  • a notebook with touchpad or mouse
  • a microSD card (8GB minimum) or USB (8 GB minimum)
  • a 3D printer is just an option (we will have the 3D printer or any public available printer is fine)
